In week two we had another visit, this time from Elle who organises walks in the New Forest. We played games identifying different animals by the noises they make, learnt lots of interesting things about the Forest, its history and wildlife, as well as having a look at some antlers shed by a fallow deer.
In Term five our topic is Weather

This term got off to an amazing start with our One World science week, the children took part in many different workshops on Tuesday including filtering water, making hovercrafts and making seed bombs. They had a 'Water wise' talk and thought of ways to use water more carefully, watched a 'Mad Science' assembly and had a visit from a representative of the Gaia Foundation who talked about the importance of seed biodiversity. They then looked at images of seeds seen under an electron microscope (they looked beautiful and really showed the children how different every seed is) They then used watercolours to make their own pictures of the seeds in their art books.
This term we are learning about Mexico!
Look back at previous Year 3 classes below
In art with Mrs Heath the children made some amazing Mexican pots and Day of the Dead masks. They are currently on display outside Year 5.
Term 2 and our topic theme is The Maya and Chocolate
We will be learning all about this ancient civilisation, how they lives, the artefacts they left behind and their calendar and number systems. We will also be finding out about the origins of chocolate and then designing a new chocolate product. This part of our topic will combine art, design and technology and ICT as we design packaging and then plan and produce adverts for our new chocolate bars!
Welcome to Term 3. This Term we have an English focus called 'Through the Door'
We will be studying the way that 'portals' are used as entrances to imaginary worlds through work on The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Alice in Wonderland.
The children will use drama, art and dance to explore and develop themes emerging from their work in English.
