At the end of week one we were visited by Neil Smith who did a Doodle Art workshop  with the children. They had great fun creating their own cartoon animals and then one of Donald Trump!

In week two we had another visit, this time from Elle who organises walks in the New Forest. We played games identifying different animals by the noises they make, learnt lots of interesting things about the Forest, its history and wildlife, as well as having a look at some antlers shed by a fallow deer.

In Term five  our topic is Weather

We will be learning about why the weather varies in different parts of the UK, checking out how accurate weather forecasts are  for our area and making our own weather station. We will be learning about the names of different clouds and linking our weather data to maths learning about measurement.

HOMEWORK- homework will be sent home each week and should be handed in on a Monday. Please check your child's homework folder and refer to parent letter (link below) for more information.

This term got off to an amazing start with our One World science week, the children took part in many different workshops on Tuesday including filtering water, making hovercrafts and making seed bombs. They had a 'Water wise' talk and thought of ways to use water more carefully, watched a 'Mad Science' assembly and had a visit from a representative of the Gaia Foundation who talked about the importance of seed biodiversity. They then looked at images of seeds seen under an electron microscope (they looked beautiful and really showed the children how different every seed is) They then used watercolours to make their own pictures of the seeds in their art books.

This term we are learning about Mexico!

Welcome to Term 3. This Term we have an English focus called 'Through the Door'

We will be studying the way that 'portals' are used as entrances to imaginary worlds through work on The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Alice in Wonderland.

The children will use drama, art and dance to explore and develop themes emerging from their work in English.

The children have really engaged with The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. They even made the wardrobe and the lamp-post out of gems during wet play!
